An Unlikely Partnership

We approached Cards Against Humanity in late 2016 about creating a promotional tie-in for Mass Effect. Our goal was to create something fans of both games would enjoy, and generate additional positive press and community excitement ahead of the launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda.

As project manager, I oversaw the development and approval process for the final product. I organized writers’ workshops, delivered feedback on the cards list, and got approvals for the final art and packaging. I also worked with the CAH team to develop the promotional strategy and press plan.

We narrowed down an initial list of over 100 submissions from the CAH team into the final pack of 14 cards.

The end result was warmly received by fans, and generated positive coverage from outlets like the AV Club, Polygon, and IGN. The limited edition sold out in two weeks and was a success for both companies.
